Mitchell Wechsler, a native of New York City, is a classically-trained trumpet player with a diverse professional portfolio. Having earned performance degrees from the University of Hartford (B.Mus.) and Rice University (M.Mus.), Mitch was then awarded a Doctor of Musical Arts assistantship as a member of the Bulldog Brass Quintet, at the University of Georgia.

As a member of the UBS Verbier Festival Orchestra, Mitch toured and performed in Europe, North and South America with resident music director, James Levine. In addition to a strong symphonic background, Mitch has performed and recorded in a variety of styles such as Broadway ("Little Shop of Horrors", "Thoroughly Modern Millie"), Big Band (Motor City Jazz Orchestra), chamber music (Hartwick Festival Brass Quintet, Little German Band), and salsa-merengue.

Now freelancing in the Detroit area, Mitch has recently worked with the Windsor Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, and Toledo Symphony; as well as with Grand Rapids Symphony and Grant Park Symphony. Mitch's teachers include Fred Mills, Chris Gekker and Armando Ghitalla.
